Kung Fu with Bruce Lee

"There is no mystery about my style. My movements are simple, direct and non-classical. The extraordinary part of it lies in its simplicity. Every movement in Jeet Kune-Do is being so of itself. There is nothing artificial about it. I always believe that the easy way is the right way. Jeet Kune-Do is simply the direct expression of one's feelings with the minimum of movements and energy. The closer to the true way of Kung Fu, the less wastage of expression there is." ~Bruce Lee

To me, Bruce Lee was the so called Last Dragon in the martial arts world. While we have been blessed with plenty of great martial arts masters, NO ONE touches Bruce Lee's technique or dedication. Check out this interview of him explaining how martial arts calls for fluidity and not steps to make a move. Plenty of times, a lot of martial arts techniques requires certain situations to happen for a technique to work. The problem with that is the situation is not going to always be the same. What if an assailant grabs you from the left instead of the right, can you react the same or will your choppy movements be your demise? Situations change with ease when it comes to a physical battle, So can you perform with ease? thats why he created Jeet Kune-Do

Bruce Lee spent his life trying to manipulate martial arts to become a tool and give an edge in quickness and not to be something flashy or showboat like. That's why I feel the lessons he bestowed upon the martial arts world may have not been widely accepted by plenty of masters, but as we have hit the future, it is clear he wanted nothing more then the art to be perfected, not cause a divide.

Check out his interview for the popular series The Green Hornet. He played Kato, The Green Hornet's assistant

Black Cotton: So High Video

So I was approached by @TreyPeezy, via twitter, in regards to a video produced by Mario Winans and it definitely drew my attention to take a look and see what was going on. Black Cotton consists of Jimbo Slice, Leo-Nardo, and Marre-L, who grew up together in San Diego. Being childhood friends makes teir chemistry better then most come up groups because they are like family. Consider Black Cotton a Hip-Hop with Aan R&B twist all in one.

The group name is based off the fact that cotton was a sign of wealth in America because of te need for it and pricing. Which in turn, makes BC have the idea that wealth is truly what you make it.

Big ups to @TreyPeezy for the video. Check him out on twitter

RIP Nujabes

You know, music is one of those things that can be made by people of all different cultures and walks of life and can still strike a cord within everyone the same way around the world. I'm a bit behind, but upon hearing that the Japanese DJ and producer extraordinare Nujabes died, I was upset to hear about it. He died on February 26th in Japan in a car accident sadly. His music is well known in the hit anime Samurai Champloo that found a way to mix the samurai action and great humor with hip hop beats making it almost modern in a feel. In his honor, check out the Luv Sic series Parts 1-3. Feat Shing02. each one in itself are good. The videos are crazy abstract, but I wouldn't expect nothing less. (video 1 was user made 2 and 3 are legit)

RIP Seba Jun aka Nujabes February 19, 1974 - February 26, 2010

Phil Nash Presents: JAYPHILLA

Back in December, I introduced you to the man named Phil Nash with an interview and a mixtape Phil Of The Future Pt. 2. He spoke on the Jazzy Jeff produced mixtape JAYPHILLA coming and it's finally here. Great tape with some strong beats and equally strong rhyming. It's definiely worth more then one spin.

Make sure to check Phil Nash on twitter as well at @philnash222

Ski Beatz presents: 24 Hour Karate School

It has finally dropped after all this time waiting and waiting....but to many peoples suprise, its all snippets but it's well worth it. The cover has great artwork, to match the whole concept of "Music in The Dojo" there is also a visual video of the mixtape to go with it, which adds a interesting concept to a mixtape. Check it out. Snippets or not its fire. Also notice The Last Dragon movie sound bytes and what better to use that for the 24 Hour Karate School theme

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this is about to be a CD thats coming out soon and after all of the production put into it, I don't blame them for wanting to put it out to the public in the stores. People are saying March 30th but thats all speculation.

Check: 24 Hour Karate School

But if that does not work Download it below

Cloud Kickers x New Era

So in my opinion, nothing completes a day of getting things done and preserving your image more than a cap on your head. I recently just bought the Cloud Kickers x New Era Cloudie hat off of the Cloud Kickers site and it's pure fire. They also have Tshirts for men and women as well, go check it out but be warned, this stuff goes fast. I had been waiting to get a hat for almost a month now.

Cloud Kickers is based out of NYC with a good eye for the sneaker heads around the world. Their designs are 100% theirs and they continue to produce great materials to wear that are unique in their own fashion.

Mos Def: White Drapes

When you want to talk wordplay and delivery prowess, there is no artist better to check out then the Mighty Mos Def. Almost a similar vibe to the track Taxi that people are eager for on Ski Beatz 24 Hour Karate School, Check out this video and snippet of his track called White Drapes that will appear on Michael Sterling Eaton's album Mictape Volume 1. It'll feature the usual suspects like Mos Def, The Cool Kids, Curren$y, Stalley, and plenty more. Music, as usual, is making moves. Once again, are you on board?

Smoke DZA presents: Marley and Me Remix

The homie Smoke DZA out of Harlem put out an ill tape awhile ago called Substance Abuse with enough good music to keep it on repeat. One of the tracks on there was called Marley and Me (No relation to the movie) Feat Devin The Dude and Curren$y Spitta. Well, after teaming up with Creative Control, were fortunate enough to see the video for the song...IN THE REMIX. The remix uses the same beat and brought to the visual eye featuring Asher Roth and June Summers on the hook.

Also see the cameos from Nipsey Hu$$le, Dame Dash, Cory Gunz, Hash, Jonny Shipes, Va$htie, Sacha Jenkins, Shiest Bubz, Push Montana, The Kidd Daytona & Cuzzin Todd.

I Don't Wanna Ill...I Just Wanna Chill

Coming up on 23 years of age in 2010, I'm starting to really feel my age when it comes to a lot of things. For example, I just can't go to bed at 3 and wake up at 7 feeling like a brand new man as I did when I was a freshman in college. Father Time is sitting there laughing at me because he knows the wear and tear I've put on my sleep cycle.

But I digress, my main thing is that my night plans have definitely matured over the years. Like large Professor says "I dont wanna ill, I just wanna chill" and thats the whole idea for a good evening for me. You can miss me with all of those parties where you have the labels of:

The Loose Girl making out with everyone
The Token Black Guy
Beer Muscles Guy
The Fine Chick at the party that everyones scared to talk to
The "We dont fit in" folks

Then The Music:

iPod DJ's
Terrible live bands
The Radio (commercials and everything)
Lil Wayne and Drake cuts all night
and the something for everybody mixes (Play Biggie, then Counting Crows. huh?)

I've gotten to the point where I will be extremely picky and wont do atmospheres because there is just to much goin on. Get me to the night spot where everyone is maxin and relaxin, sippin with no trippin, and chillin with no illin. Music Vibes? smart and sultry, just right for the evening.

Those nights are the ones you remember and make you want to do it again the next night.

Pete Rock and InI: Center of Attention

When it comes to the Hip Hop, crate digging for me comes second nature. I guess you could say im digging everyday due to the fact that the mainstream game is full of nonsense. You already know how I feel if I haven't stated it enough. So a few months ago I was searching around some Pete Rock productions and came up on this collab with him and the group InI.

This album Center of Attention is a MUST HAVE. Besides Pete Rock throwing down on the beats, InI: Rob-O, Grap Luva (Pete's younger brother), I Love H.I.M., Marco Polo (not the hip-hop producer), and DJ Boodakhan, rap on a smooth and knowledgeable level. Tracks such as Fakin Jax and Square One offer an insight on how they felt the Hip Hop game was going back in 1996. To me, I saw it as a sort of omen on the Hip Hop Game. Check out the album because its definitely a front to back....and back to front listen. Take a look at the video for Fakin Jax below and follow the link for the download. (Buy it online if you have the bread as well!)

Back in The Mire They Call The Blog World

Ok yall, Sorry for the temporary break in the Blog World. I took an extended vacation in order to try to get my content together for 2010. Plus alot of stuff jumped off that I knew every blog was going to try and claim "they had first" and since I don't get down with lying to yall about news and info, as well as selling a dream that I had it first, I had to lay off. To be honest, the blog world is cluttered with a lot of wannabes, gossipers, liars, and plagiarizers and it's definitely on the annoying. In my mind, I'm trying to bring yall something relevant for 2010 like info on music, fashion, and "Real Life Situations." As I see it in my mind...Not someone elses. 2010 is gonna be fun yall and to the rest of the fakers I only have one saying. Take It E Z
