So this is part 2 of 9ths De Blog Jam: The House that Toomp Built. They provide some good insight on the whole beats on CD's process and how people got it wrong. It's not the A&R's job to pick beats ladies and gentleman. They are just supposed to make sure that CD is pushed and hot. Plenty of times an artist could get on a beat and smash it, but Toomp brings up a good point. When you hear something wack, it could be because the A&R is just trying to put his man on or owes him.
